Per the Lexington Herald-Leader: "Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear said Monday that Kentuckians should do 'the Christian thing' and welcome all refugees who have cleared an extensive vetting process. But Beshear leaves office in three weeks. His Republican successor, Matt Bevin, said he will oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees 'until we can better determine the full extent of any risks to our citizens.'"

And Elizabethtown's News-Enterprise: "When community members sitting in pews in the council chamber began to call out suggestions and comments, (Radcliff mayor Mike) Weaver said they were out of order and not part of the discussion. For example, one of the fights that bubble up at farmers markets is around rules (or lack thereof) regarding where vendors can source the produce that they sell. Adair County is, per (awesome) ColumbiaMagazine.com, apparently one of the hardliners on this point. Note the all caps and italics on "EXCLUSIVELY" in this report. I totally understand the folks in Pike County who are anxious to drive the new U.S. 460. Before I-24 opened all the way through western Kentucky, Dad a few times got out and drove it in the wee hours of the morning before the work crews were on site. It was fun.

So the Mayfield Cardinals on Friday beat the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets, 42-0, for the KHSAA Class A football championship. That makes 10 (!) state championships for Mayfield, and that's the fourth highest for any school in KHSAA football history. As noted by Mike Fields in the Lexington Herald-Leader, current Cardinals coach Joe Morris now has the same number of state championships (four) as his dad, former Cardinals coach Jack. Mayfield finished 14-1 this season.
