  1. Ten games ago, the Tigers were 84-63, and Cleveland was 74-71 -- an eight-game lead for Detroit. Since that time, the Tigers have gone 1-9 and Cleveland has gone 9-1. Now they're all tied up at 85-72, and it turns out that they are playing tonight in Cleveland.

  2. This is the first time I've seen Cleveland all year -- they've been out of contention for months. But now, they are alive.

  3. In Pittsburgh, the Reds -- who desperately need a win -- trail the Pirates 1-0 in the top of the 5th. The Mets -- who are one game ahead of the Reds -- are warming up for a game with the Cubs in Wrigley Field.

  6. I've been listening to "Music for 18 Musicians" by Steve Reich. I make it all the way through every other year or so. I find it very soothing.

  10. Now I'm listening to the Living Stereo recording of "Le Mer" and "The Pines of Rome," made by Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony.
