Kentucky High-school Football, Class A Round of Eight

The closest margin of victory through the first two rounds of the Class A tournament has been 16 points, but things might get a bit more competitive starting Friday. The eight teams still alive were all ranked in the final BluegrassPreps.com top nine for Class A, and they are a combined 82-14 on the season.

Then again, we might not see closer games Friday. Seven of these same teams advanced to this same stage last season, and no 2013 regional final was tighter than an 11-point decision. Last year's four winners were Mayfield, Frankfort, Williamsburg and Raceland, and the Cardinals came out of Region 1 to win the state title.

There are two regular-season rematches are among Friday's games:

-- Mayfield won at Russellville, 16-8, on Oct. 24.

-- Raceland won at home against Paintsville, 32-0, on Oct. 24.
