Rah!

Heath at Lone Oak (No. 10 in the Associated Press poll for Class 4A)

Caldwell County (AP 2A No. 5) at Mayfield (unanimous AP A No. 1)--Game of the week? The home-standing Cardinals are No. 15 statewide in The Courier-Journal Litkenhous Ratings. (Louisville Trinity of Class 6A is, of course, No. 1.)

Danville (AP 2A No. 3) at Frankfort (AP A No. 2)--Game of the week?

Fairview (AP A No. 3) at Powell County

Williamsburg (AP A No. 4) at Oliver Springs (Tenn.)

Inez Sheldon Clark at Hazard (AP A No. 6)

Raceland-Worthington (AP A No. 7) at Russell

Russellville (AP A No. 8) at Logan County

Louisville Kentucky Country Day (AP A No. 9) at Trimble County

Nicholas County (AP A No. 10) at Bath County

Perry County Central at Somerset (AP 2A No. 2)

Fort Mitchell Beechwood (AP A No. 5) at Newport Central Catholic (AP 2A No. 4)--
Game of the week? Fifteen state championships between these two teams.

Fulton County at Murray (AP 2A No. 6)

Bardstown (AP 2A No. 7) at Goshen North Oldham

Green County at Lexington Christian (AP 2A No. 8)

Louisville Male (AP 6A No. 10) at Louisville Christian Academy (AP 2A No. 9)
--Game of the week?

Glasgow (AP 2A No. 10) at Elizabethtown

Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park (AP 6A No. 4) at Louisville Central (AP 3A No. 1)--
Game of the week? If I'm understanding this correctly, one of the 16 voters for the poll this week had Central, the 8-1 defending state champions, ranked seventh in Class 3A. Central received 15 first-place votes; Bourbon County was tops on the outlier ballot. Furthermore, Central has 154 voting points in a system that appears to give 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for a second ... and so on. So, 15 known first-place votes would equal 150 points, leaving one seventh-place vote worth four. Of course, if you think that's kind of strange, check out this jive with PRP and the playoffs.

Clay County at Breathitt County (AP 3A No. 2)

Paris at Bourbon County (AP 3A No. 4)

Belfry (AP 3A No. 5) at Paintsville Johnson Central (AP 4A No. 6)--
Game of the week?

Fort Campbell (AP 3A No. 6) at Hopkinsville

Wayne County (AP 3A No. 7) at Nicholasville East Jessamine

Allen County-Scottsville at Monroe County (AP 3A No. 8)

Morgan County (AP 3A No. 10) at Grayson East Carter

Fort Thomas Highlands (AP 4A No. 1) at Union Larry A. Ryle--
In a state-record 13 seasons, no team has been able to successfully execute it. But there does exist a formula for actually beating the visiting Bluebirds.

Covington Catholic (AP 4A No. 3) at Hebron Conner (AP 5A No. 6)
--Game of the week?

Adair County at Russell County (AP 4A No. 4)

Bowling Green Warren East (AP 4A No. 5) at Shepherdsville Bullitt Central

  1. I had Graves County at Marshall County tonight, but it's Marshall County at Graves County. I regret the error.

But not as much as somebody should regret this garbage.

  9. Not many teams don't advance to the playoffs in Kentucky high-school football. McLean County is one of them; its season ended "on a miserably cold and damp night in Calhoun."
