Oh, Kentucky
I've subsequently gone on my Thursday-night basketball league's IL with a knee issue (which is really heartbreaking, because it was widely held that I had been playing the best ball of my whole freaking career), but I am thrilled that I at least stayed healthy long enough to visit and play in the gym of the 1928-state-finalist Nebo Purple Aces (reports indispensable Bob "I Corinthians 10:31" Mays, "Nebo (district champ) beat LaFayette, Madisonville, and Cobb to win the 2nd region. At the state tournament, the Aces beat Russell 31-6, Munfordville 31-21, and Inez 21-18 before losing the championship game to Corbin & its 6’6 center Bob Cluggish 24-18.").
"Louisville Parks and Recreation is seeking information from current and future pool users in an effort to provide alternative swimming options during the 2019 summer swim season. Metro’s four outdoor pools will not be opening due to budgetary challenges caused by an increase in our state pension bill and the council’s vote against new revenue. The goal is to use the feedback to create the most useful alternatives possible."
With 478 people going to work in April, Kentucky reached a record-breaking 1,982,330 people doing jobs across the state.
Best of luck to Mr. Richardson and Mrs. Spears on their coffee/coloring pages/art endeavor in Villa Hills.
On ambulance service in and around Pike County in the wake of recent M&A activity.
Latest turn in the recycling saga in and around Lexington.
Almost six years later and still no peace for the family, friends and colleagues of Ofc. Ellis.

Oh, Kentucky
Good jobs news in Richmond and (wow!) Wickliffe.
The old IGA in Livermore might still end up being a grocery--but probably not the one in Calhoun any time soon.
The new Shoe Sensation is grandly open in Williamsburg.
Paducah's (and many of Kentucky's) historical markers are rusting away.
Greens reseeding idles the Mineral Mounds and Pennyrile state-park golf courses for about a month.
CNN in Lovely. Fox News in Hebron.
I went to a party Saturday evening, and they were talking about Madisonville's new miniature-golf course. It was all over my Facebook feed by late that night. It was the lead story in Sunday's paper. I heard about it plenty at church. "City venue gets rave reviews," indeed.
Sad story out of Villa Hills--here's hoping the Sisters of St. Benedict get their deceased sisters' rings back.
"Connecting communities of compassion and care"--next month in Louisville.
Pfc. Elmore Comes Home.

Oh, Kentucky
Barren County High School says it's in compliance with state guidelines for its Bible-literacy course and has received no complaints from parents or students in the seven years it has been offered, reports Lisa Simpson Strange in the Glasgow Daily Times. And at Lewis County High, per Kathryn Robinson of West Virginia's WSAZ, "there's no daily devotionals, that's not done. Daily prayer is not done ... it's more of a comparative religion."
The KHSAA Board of Control has also been meeting on some lively topics, such as how to recombobulate high-school football for the next several seasons.
The federal bust at the Jumbo Buffet in La Grange is quite a mystery--even to the owners, they say.
"The largest firearms retailer in the state of Kentucky and one of the largest volume single shop locations in the country," Whittaker Guns of Owensboro, appears to have no overnight security guards, dogs, etc. Anyway, some people broke in and stole a bunch of their guns the other night.
Madisonville is hiring for a director of its forthcoming "makerspace."

Oh, Kentucky
Rest in peace, Freddie Goode, 1993 Liberty mayoral-election winner by 11 votes and farm-gate vendor.
Poetry readings in Columbia.
"The City of Paducah is the recipient of a national award that will be officially announced this Wednesday at a ceremony starting at 10:30 am at Paducah Tilghman High School."
It's shaping up as a very lively Wednesday for the Kentucky desk, in fact.
"(A)nd one great great great grandchild." Wow.
Hooray for grand openings!
"Murray was magical for me."
New newspaper for Union and environs.
This story is just full of fun things to think about and explore--what Ruritan Clubs might do, "the old Pembroke school gym," the National Ruritan president's potential route from Pine Hall, N.C., to Pembroke, ...
Smart Grid!
The shift from club to varsity status for a high-school sport invites all sorts of complications
