Herb Hays goes big in taking over a Hoptown furniture store. This ad occupied the whole back page of the Feb. 18, 1969, Kentucky New Era.
The New Owner's Plan apparently worked.
Here's more from the Feb. 8-22, 1969, editions of Hopkinsville's Kentucky New Era:
Three national stories that consistently made the front of the Hoptown paper during this era that I either didn't know much about at all or didn't realize were such a big deal were the saga of the USS Pueblo, the rash of plane hijacking and the Clay Shaw conspiracy trial around President Kennedy's assassination.
Good jobs news ...
Happy birthday, KFC!
Turning to sports ...
Raymond Burse is now the Kentucky State University president ...

Oh, Kentucky
Prayers for Jesus Alamo, his family and Douglas Poynter, all of Louisville.
Good job; now go faster, says the Prichard Committee.
Good jobs news from Bowilng Green, Columbia, Erlanger, Hebron, Louisville, Maysville, Trenton and Walton. Bad from Madisonville. Also, after reportedly considering a move to the old York International plant in town, our Walmart is apparently considering a move up to the road to Hanson.
The 411 on the impending Uncle Lee's closure in Greenville.
KSU's president is not playing.
The "new energy economy" at UK.
Smart grid(!)?
