127 Games to Go

Tomorrow the Boys' Basketball Regional Tournaments begin.  There are 128 schools that are each seven wins away from a State Championship.

Here are the State Champs since 2010:

2010:  Shelby Valley over Lou. Ballard
2011:  Christian Co. over Rowan Co.
2012:  Lou. Trinity over Scott Co.
2013:  Madison Cent. over Lou. Ballard
2014:  Cov. Catholic over Scott Co.
2015:  Owensboro over Bowling Green
2016:  Lex. Dunbar over Lou. Doss
2017:  Bowling Green over Cooper
2018:  Cov. Catholic over Scott Co.
2019:  Lou. Trinity over Scott Co.
2020:  Cancelled
2021:  Ft. Thomas Highlands over Elizabethtown

Here are the matchups in the First Region (all games at Murray State).  It's very odd to see the First Region Tournament with no team from Marshall County:

Monday, February 28:
Calloway Co. (17-13) v. Mayfield (16-7)
Fulton Co. (12-12) v. McCracken Co. (24-3)

Tuesday, March 1:
Graves Co. (15-14) v. Murray (22-6)
Paducah Tilghman (19-8) v. Carlisle Co. (15-11)

Here are the matchups in the Second Region:

Tuesday, March 1 (home teams listed first):
Madisonville-North Hopkins (22-8) v. Union Co. (19-9)
Lyon Co. (25-6) v. Christian Co. (10-22)
Henderson Co. (18-12) v. Hopkins County Cent. (14-12)
Hopkinsville (21-6) v. Crittenden Co. (14-16)

The semi-finals and final will be at Hopkinsville, which means that Lyon County will have to beat Hoptown in Hoptown to reach the State Tournament.  That won't be easy.

2 comments:

  1. McCracken County beats Fulton County 57 to 26. The Mustangs were up 41-6 at the half. Mayfield beats Calloway County 64 to 54.
