Album Review: Run by AWOLNATION

AWOLNATION is the solo project of Aaron Bruno who had previously been in Home Town Hero and Under the Influence of Giants. What's interesting about both of those bands is that they had splash success and then just sort of ended. In 2011 he hit it big as a solo artist with AWOLNATION's first album going platinum. Now he's followed that up with this one.

I find him interesting in that he's had these consistent hits but in different incarnations.  This album is a bit much for me.  It sounds like a mash up of every type of music that has been used to generate a hit over the last 25 years and so there is something that feels artificial about it.  It's also too long at 14 tracks.  It would have been better if the album were trimmed downed and tightened up around one consistent sound.  Or maybe it has a consistent sound and I just don't like it.  I can't make up my mind on that one.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
