Kentucky High-school Football, Class 4A Round of 16

Madisonville-North Hopkins has made this beautiful trip before, but it has not made for a happy ride back home.

The Maroons went to Franklin-Simpson in the second round of the 2011 playoffs and lost, 20-17. They returned last fall and lost, 20-16. And now Madisonville-North Hopkins (9-2) is headed back to Franklin-Simpson (9-1) in in the Region 1, Class 4A semifinals today.

Down in Region 4, Covington Catholic is even more accustomed to the longer road out to Johnson Central in Paintsville.

Five times in the last six seasons, the CovCath Colonels and Johnson Central Golden Eagles have collided in the playoffs--all five times in Paintsville. The results:

-- Johnson Central 49, CovCath 14 in 2008
-- Johnson Central 51, CovCath 32 in 2009
-- Johnson Central 41, CovCath 28 in 2010
-- CovCath 45, Johnson Central 15 in 2012
-- CovCath 42, Johnson Central 14 in 2013

The Colonels come in to tonight's game at 7-4. The Golden Eagles are 11-0.
