State Semi-Final Results

As Eric has already reported, we had a remarkable set of state semi-final games last Friday.  Here are the scores (home teams listed first).  As usual, Mayfield is the last team standing west of Bowling Green:

Class 1A:
Mayfield 35 - 7 Frankfort
Williamsburg 34 - 7 Raceland

Class 2A:
Murray 0 - 38 Lou. DeSales
Newport Cent. Catholic 49 - 48 Somerset (2 OT) (at Newport)

For the record, I don't think Caldwell County would have beaten DeSales anyway.

Class 3A:
Paducah Tilghman 10 - 34 Wayne Co.
Bourbon Co. 13 - 21 Belfry

Class 4A:
Owensboro 14 - 50 Shelbyville Collins
Lex. Catholic 35 - 49 Ft. Thomas Highlands

I WANT TO SEE HIGHLANDS PLAY BOWLING GREEN!!!

Class 5A:
Bowling Green 33 - 28 John Hardin
Anderson Co. 17 - 20 Pulaski Co.

Maybe it's just me, but John Hardin always seems to come up just short in the state football and basketball playoffs.

Class 6A:
Meade Co. 34 - 28 Lou. Butler
Lou. Male 10 - 24 Scott Co.

  1. I think it'd be pretty great if, say, The C-J would put on one big season-ending game--the "Kentucky Bowl" or whatever. It could take place in Louisville the first Saturday of Christmas break, and it could pit the two best teams whom Jason Frakes deems the best in the state. Or, the Associated Press could put it on, and all the poll voters could vote on whom to invite. Or whatever. And, of course, at least initially, the top teams would choose not to accept the invitation--but, whatever, create a bowl, start inviting, see what happens. It'd be fun.
