There are no college or high school sports going on in Kentucky these days, so I will be commenting on the World Cup.
Today we have one of the most eagerly-anticipated matches of the tournament: Netherlands v. Brazil -- two countries that are famous for playing beautiful, flowing soccer. We will see if they do so today.
It's not easy being Dutch. In 1994, the Netherlands reached the quarter-finals -- where they met Brazil. They lost 3-2 in a thriller. In 1998 they reached the semi-finals -- where they met Brazil. This time they lost on penalty kicks after the game had finished 1-1 in extra time. And now they are back to the quarterfinals -- and another meeting with Brazil. Can they finally overcome this hurdle?
I don't think so. I'm taking Brazil.
