Based on the Ken Pom rankings, an old-school 10-team SEC men's basketball tournament would look like this (seeds in parentheses):
Upper bracket:
(1) Florida (16-6) v. (8) Louisiana St (14-8) or (9) Mississippi (11-10)
(4) Alabama (14-7) v. (5) Auburn (14-8)
Lower bracket:
(2) Vanderbilt (19-3) v. (7) Georgia (16-6) or (10) Mississippi St. (11-11)
(3) Tennessee (15-6) v. (6) Kentucky (15-7)
There are some really good quarter-final matchups here.
However, in terms of the modern SEC, the top of the league looks like this:
Texas A & M: 7-1
Florida: 7-2
Vanderbilt: 6-3
Arkansas: 6-3
Kentucky: 6-3
Tennessee: 5-3
Auburn: 5-4
Missouri: 5-4
Alabama: 4-4
Texas: 4-5
Georgia: 4-5
Tennessee smashes Ole Miss in Knoxville, 84 to 66. The Vols have won 4 in a row and are now 6-3.
ReplyDeleteThe Vols haven't lost since they were upset by UK. They travel to Lexington for the rematch on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that the red in S.M.U.'s uniforms is the exact same shade as the red in North Carolina State's uniforms: 204, 0, 0.
ReplyDeleteNC State goes to Dallas and beats SMU 84 to 83. Wolfpack are now 8-2 in the ACC and 17-6 overall, and they have a five-game winning streak.
