The Scottish Premier League

We don't talk much about the Scottish Premier League because it is dominated by two giant clubs in Glasgow -- Celtic and Rangers.  In Britain, those two clubs are known as the Old Firm.  Either Celtic or Rangers has won the league every year since 1984-85, and most years they finish 1-2.  But look at the standings after 20 games:

1.  Heart of Midlothian:  13-2-5 (44 points)
2.  Celtic:  12-6-2 (38) (goal differential of 13) (34 goals scored)
3.  Rangers:  10-2-8 (38) (goal differential of 13) (30 goals scored)
4.  Motherwell:  9-3-9 (36)
5.  Hibernian:  9-5-7 (34)
6.  Falkirk:  7-7-6 (27)
7.  Dundee Utd:  5-6-10 (25) (goal differential of negative 2)
8.  Aberdeen:  7-9-4 (25) (goal differential of negative 4)
9.  Dundee:  6-11-4 (22)
10.  St. Mirren:  4-9-6 (18)
11.  Kilmarnock:  2-12-7 (13)
12.  Livingston:  1-13-6 (9)

Heart of Midlothian is one of two major clubs in Edinburgh -- the other is Hibernian.  Hearts play their matches in Tynecastle Park, which seats 19,852 people.  To put that figure in perspective, Celtic Park seats 60,411 people, while Ibrox Stadium (where Rangers play) holds 51,700.  So it's virtually impossible for Hearts to win the league, and in fact they have not done so since the 1959-60 season.  But I've been tracking the Scottish Premier League since 1995, and I don't remember seeing a team from outside the Old Firm at the top of the table this far into the season.  So I wanted to give Hearts a shoutout.
