Dodgers/Phillies Update

For some reason, my computer stops publishing comments after a while.   I don't know why -- it's like I can only publish so many comments at one time.  Anyway, here's what happened:

1.  The Phillies sent up Harrison Bader to pinch hit, and he slapped a single to left.  That put runners on first and second with one out.

2.  Max Kepler, who scored in the eighth, came up and slapped a difficult grounder toward first.  Freddy Freeman made a great grab and threw to Betts at second, forcing the runner from first.  Two outs, and runners at the corners, and leadoff hitter Trea Turner coming up.

3.  At this point, the Dodgers brought in their third pitcher of the inning:  Roki Sasaki, a rookie from Japan.  Sasaki is another starter who the Dodgers are using as a reliever.  He went 1-1 with an ERA of 4.46 in 36 innings.

4.  Turner hit the second pitch to the Dodger second baseman.  His throw to first was a bit offline, but Freeman made another great play -- stretching out and grabbing the ball while keeping his foot on the bag.  He watched the umpire to make sure the call was out, and then the Dodgers engaged in some serious celebration.

Final Score:  Dodgers 4, Phillies 3.  If you didn't enjoy this game, you should try a different sport.
