The last major of the year will be played at Royal Liverpool, in Hoylake, England. The last two winners here were Tiger Woods (2006) and Rory McIlroy (2014), so we can't complain about that.

The last amateur to win the British Open was Bobby Jones, at Royal Liverpool, in 1930.
ReplyDeleteLast month, Mr. Lamprecht won the British Amateur Championship at Hillside G.C. in Southport, England. Jones famously won the British Amateur in 1930, just before he won the British Open.
ReplyDeleteMr. Lamprecht is 6' 8" tall, and he plays college golf for Georgia Tech.
ReplyDeleteWyndham Clark and Stewart Cink shot 3-under par 68's. Jordan Spieth shot a 2-under par 69. Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, and Xander Schauffele shot 1-under par 70's. No other prominent American is going to break par today.
