1975: News Quiz

I scored only "fair" last week, so I'm looking for a big comeback in this week's quiz.

Also, my ranking of the standard milkshake flavors typically goes, No. 1, vanilla; No. 2, strawberry, and No. 3, chocolate.

    1. Crap. Only three of five. It kills you if you don't dominate Worldscope.

    1. I can't believe I missed Tom Watson, and I initially had Hank Aaron at 25 All-Star Games but thought that was just impossible--too many seasons. Should've gone with my first guess. Amazing.

    2. Johnny Miller had already won the 1973 U.S. Open, while Tom Watson did not win a major until 1975. I know these things because I have read "Massacre at Winged Foot," by Dick Schaap, at least five times.

  3. When I started posting these quizzes, I imagined myself on the weekends then posting blue-book essay answers to the Roundtable questions. I got bogged down actually writing my response to even just this first one. Maybe I'll come back to these some day when we're old (please, God). And, in case I do, I want to link to this post, the spirit of which is the thrust of the answer I'm thinking about for my response to this Roundtable.
