College Baseball

I'm going to get more serious about college baseball this year.  Vandy, who begins the year ranked number 4 in the country, just won its opener.  The Dores, playing at home, beat Wright State 14-1.  That's a good start.

  1. That was the first game of a double-header. Vandy wins the nightcap 1-0. Good start for the defending champs.

  2. Virginia, ranked number 12 in the country, rolls to an easy 14-5 victory over Virginia Military Institute. But the VMI guys had really great uniforms -- red shirts, white pants, and black hats and socks.

  3. This is huge! I didn't realize until just now that I can get SEC Plus content on my TV. So now I'm watching a baseball game between Vandy and WKU -- two of my all-time favorites. Vandy is in gold uniforms with black hats; Western has black helmets, red shirts, and white pants. It appears to be a sunny day in Nashville, with late afternoon shadows creeping across the infield. Looks great!

  4. Since this is an SEC Plus game, we have a low-budget broadcast: we just have one camera behind home plate, and it shows the whole field.

    1. I was wrong about the Vandy uniforms; they are wearing the baseball version of those retro uniforms the basketball team has been wearing. So they are in white, not gold. This uniform works better for baseball than basketball.

  5. Nashville looks fantastic. I would really like to be walking across the Vandy campus right now.

  6. Vandy rolls, 12 to 1, and the Dores move to 3-0 on the season.

  7. This afternoon, SEMO held a 5-2 lead over number-2 Arkansas going into the bottom of the 9th. But the Razorbacks scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th, and won 6-5 in 10 innings.

  8. Georgia State comes to Nashvegas and knocks off Vandy 4-2. Dores, who were number 3 in the country, fall to 3-1. The Georgia State Panthers were FIRED UP. And who can blame them?
