MLB Update

It's too early to express opinions on the various rule changes that MLB is experimenting with this year, so I'm not going to do so.  What I plan to do is basically follow everything in a very mellow way, and then start taking it seriously once there are eight teams left in the playoffs.  In the meantime, I will only note that the Angels are wasting another season in Mike Trout's career:

National League:
Los Angeles:  18-7  --
Chicago:  16-8  1 1/2
Colorado:  13-10  4
Atlanta:  14-11  4

Miami:  9-8  5
San Diego:  13-12  5
Milwaukee:  10-11 6
Philadelphia:  9-10  6
St. Louis:  6-7  6
New York:  11-14  7
Washington:  9-12  7
Cincinnati:  9-12   7
San Francisco:  9-16  9
Pittsburgh:  4-15  11

American League:
New York:  16-7  --
Oakland:  16-8  1/2
Minnesota:  16-8  1/2

  1. I'm becoming convinced that Mike Trout just isn't that good.

  3. I keep wanting to call them "the cheating Astros," but I'm starting to think they really are "the formerly cheating Astros." To be safe I'm going with "the (apparently) formerly cheating Astros."

The A's moments ago finished a five-game series with the (apparently) formerly cheating Astros, and here were the scores (home-standing Oakland listed first): 6-0 Monday, 4-2 and 4-5 Tuesday, 3-2 Wednesday and 3-1 Thursday. I can't remember the Tuesday games, but, in both of the last two games, the A's came from behind to win.

Oakland (27-15) now leads the Western Division by 6.5 games, and, at least until Tampa plays Boston today, the A's are only 0.5 games behind the Rays (28-15) for the lead of the whole American League. Now it's on to Dallas for four over the weekend with the Rangers, and let's win there, too. #GREENCOLLAR!

  4. I love the A's, and I've always treated them well. But I'm sure it hurts the A's that I don't look at them with the same ardor that I reserve for the Dolphins. I can't help it--the heart desires what the heart desires. But I do notice how much the A's have given me over the years, and I wish my fondness and appreciation for them were genuinely more enthusiastic.

Or, in other words: Me:A's=Anthony Hopkins:Marcia Gay Harden in Meet Joe Black. I love that movie.
