Album Review: 28 Days in the Valley by Dorothy

Dorothy Martin is a real talent. There is no doubt about that. She has a great rock voice but it takes so much more than raw talent to make a great album and this album is pretty much empty of anything but Martin's talent. It feels like someone set out to make a rock album and said well we got Dorothy Martin what else to we need. Not hooks or anything. No just a bunch of noisy guitars and that will do it for us. I'm not even sure they employed a producer.

All in all this is not an album I liked. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK. I thought about giving it 0 stars and therefore no review, but felt like I had to say something about the waste of Dorothy Martin's obvious talent. Makes me think of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. All the talk over the voice of Karen O and of course the one great song Maps, but then nothing else because they had no songwriting ability to go with her voice.
