  1. Since, at least, 1992, Kentucky has been describing its state-park system with superlatives like, "The Nation's Finest." I think that might actually be true, but who thinks it's OK to say things like that about themselves? I am turned off by that sort of marketing talk--by asserting that sort of thing, it makes me just want to find ways to poke holes in the notion. It doesn't make me believe it to be true.
