Where Are They Now? 2017 All Star Check-In

Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix Suns)
33.2MPG, 44.2% FG, 33.2 % 3PT, 4.9 Reb, 6.2 Ast, 21.6 PTS,  113 ORtg, 112 DRtg

Bledsoe has been healthy and playing very well.  Sad to say he's playing on the worst team in the NBA West.

Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)
34.5 MPG, 42.5% FG, 36.7% 3PT, 2.8 Reb, 3.2 Ast, 21.1 PTS, 103 ORtg, 116 DRtg

Booker is also playing on a bad team and that does affect your ratings, but his DRtg is awful.  He's proving to be someone that can score the question for Booker going forward will be what kind of defensive player can he be.  That will determine a lot of what his future career looks like.

Willie Cauley-Stein (Sacramento Kings)

13 MPG, 56.1% FG, 2.7 Reb, 5.8 PTS, 111 ORtg, 109 DRtg

Cauley-Stein's minutes have been cut back quite a bit this year with a new coach and new system and so I'm not sure what all of that means for him. He has continued to put up solid numbers and now with Cousins gone, I'm assuming he'll be seeing much more time and so we'll see just how good he can be.

DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans Pelicans)
34.4 MPG, 45.2% FG, 10.6 Reb, 4.8 Ast, 27.8 PTS, 109 ORtg, 105 DRtg

I had said at the beginning of the season I would not be surprised to see the Kings trade Cousins, but in the end I was a bit surprised. Always of course getting into trouble, Cousins was quietly having probably the best year of his career and the Kings were on the edge of making the playoffs. Now he will be moving on to New Orleans and teamed up with Anthony Davis. It will take a lot of the offensive pressure off of Cousins and a lot of defensive and rebounding pressure off of Davis and so this should be a good fit, but we'll see.

Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
36.4 MPG, 50.4% FG, 11.9 Reb, 2.2 Ast, 27.7 PTS, 111 ORtg, 101 DRtg

Davis is having a much better season than last year and so this is a good sign for both him and his coach. The team is on the edge of making the playoffs and with Cousins coming on board one would hope they can bridge that gap and get in. It would be interesting to see these two young and talented big men playing together in the playoffs.

Aaron Harrison (Charlotte Hornets)

Early into the season Harrison was waived by Charlotte. If he comes back we'll track him here, but for now he's out of the NBA.

Andrew Harrison (Memphis Grizzlies)
21.9 MPG, 31.6% FG, 26% 3Pt, 1.9 Reb, 3 Ast, 6.2 PTS, 100 ORtg, 107 DRtg

Memphis is having a good season and Harrison is getting a lot of minutes. All this is a very good sign for a rookie.

Terrence Jones (New Orleans Pelicans)
24.8 MPG, 47.2% FG, 5.9 Reb, 1.2 Ast, 11.5 PTS, 103 ORtg, 105 DRtg

Jones has stayed healthy and is having a solid year. With Cousins coming into New Orleans it's not certain what this will be for Jones. Maybe he'll get traded for Brandon Knight.

Enes Kanter (Oklahoma City Thunder)
21.6 MPG, 56.3% FG, 6.7 Reb, 14.4 PTS, 119 ORtg, 107 DRtg

Kanter continues to prove that he can score points even on a team with Russell Westbrook scoring his 30 a game. But it's been a tough season for Kanter who suffered an injury back in January of his own making. Hopefully he'll come back and be back to full strength by the playoffs.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Charlotte Hornets)
29.7 MPG, 45.7% FG, 7.5 Reb, 9 PTS, 109 ORtg, 105 DRtg

Kidd-Gilchrist has stayed healthy and is having a solid year. His team though is struggling. After a good start they have fallen off a cliff and don't seem to be recovering. There is some talk of whether or not they should trade Kidd-Gilchrist, but we'll see.

Brandon Knight (Phoenix Suns)
21.1 MPG, 39.8% FG, 32.4% 3Pt, 2.2 Reb, 2.4 Ast, 11 PTS, 101 ORtg, 115 DRtg

Knight it seems to me is on his way out of the League unless he can find life with another team. Since he's been with Phoenix he has not been productive and even though he's been healthy this year there is no sign that he can be a high quality guard in the League. I will never understand why the Bucks traded him during the 2014-15 season when he was playing so well and they were doing so well, but since then both he and the Bucks have struggled.

Skal Labissiere (Sacramento Kings)
6.5 MPG, 46.2% FG, 1.5 Reb, 2.5 PTS, 114 ORtg, 113 DRtg

Labissiere is going the common rookie path for early entry players not selected in the top 3 or so. That means a lot of D League action and a lot of bench time.

Deandre Liggins (Cleveland Cavaliers)
14.3 MPG, 39.7% FG, 38.6% 3Pt, 2.9 Reb, 1 Ast, 2.9 PTS, 97 ORtg, 107 DRtg

Liggins is still with Cleveland and playing quite a few minutes. I'm hoping he can survive the season and use this as a springboard to a long career. His three point shooting percentage is solid and that will help him and for as little as he played in the past he is in many ways a rookie and putting up rookie numbers.

Trey Lyles (Utah Jazz)
18.3 MPG, 37.8% FG, 32.3% 3Pt, 3.7 Reb, 7.3 PTS, 97 ORtg, 105 DRtg

Lyles continues to get playing time, but his offensive numbers have gone down this year and that's not good. But Utah is having a good season and he's getting 18 minutes a game so that's a good sign.

Jodie Meeks (Orlando Magic)
21.7 MPG, 41.7% FG, 40.4% 3Pt, 2.3 Reb, 1.5 Ast, 8.9 PTS, 108 ORtg, 109 DRtg

Meeks is playing on a bad team at the end of a contract and continuing to have health problems. I can't imagine he'll still be in the League next year but we'll see.

Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets)
19.9 MPG, 39.3% FG, 33% 3Pt, 2.5 Reb, 1.8 Ast, 8.9 PTS, 103 ORtg, 115 DRtg

What a great season for Murray. He's playing a lot and Denver is having a much better season than anyone expected. For a rookie he's putting up good numbers.

Nerlens Noel (Philadelphia 76ers)
19.4 MPG, 61.1% FG, 8.9 Reb, 1 Ast, 8.9 PTS, 119 ORtg, 101 DRtg

Noel's minutes are way down, but he is playing his best basketball. He missed the beginning of the season with an injury and was on the bench while the 76ers discovered they had a new star big man. There is much talk that one of the inside players for the 76ers will be traded.

Patrick Patterson (Toronto Raptors)

27.3 MPG, 38.5% FG, 36.3% 3Pt, 5.5 Reb, 1.4 Ast, 7.2 PTS, 112 ORtg, 110 DRtg

Patterson continues to play well for Toronto. I always hope he'll have a big game in the playoffs for them.

Julius Randle (Los Angeles Lakers)
28.2 MPG, 48.7% FG, 12.9 Reb, 3.6 Ast, 12.9 PTS, 105 ORtg, 111 DRtg

They may be the worst team in the West but Randle is showing improvement the way you would hope to see from a Sophomore player. His shooting percentage is up, his rebounds are up, he's becoming more efficient and all those are good signs.

Rajon Rondo (Chicago Bulls)

26.3 MPG, 37.2% FG, 31.6% 3Pt, 5.2 Reb, 6.5 Ast, 6.5 PTS, 92 ORtg, 106 DRtg

It would appear as though Rondo has decided he hates playing in Chicago. His numbers are down and when he's in the news it's not positive. If they can trade him I believe they will, but I think this is the last run for Rondo.

Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves)
36.5 MPG, 51.6% FG, 11.8 Reb, 2.9 Ast, 23.7 PTS, 117 ORtg, 109 DRtg

Maybe the most disappointing team in the League this year is Minnesota. People had so many big dreams for them, but they have fallen flat this year. Towns continues to put up impressive numbers, but with his team just sitting there doing nothing it's raising a lot of questions about just how good he is and how impactful he can be? It seems to me in the modern NBA even the most talented big men just can't win on their own. Ask Boogie.

Tyler Ulis (Phoenix Suns)
9 MPG, 39.2% FG, 33.3% 3Pt, 1.3 Ast, 3.1 PTS, 92 ORtg, 112 DRtg

Ulis is having a good year. He's played in a lot of games and getting solid minutes. It's on a bad team but you have to start where you can.

John Wall (Washington Wizards)
36.6 MPG, 45.2% FG, 31.3% 3Pt, 4.4 Reb, 10.6 Ast, 22.8 PTS, 110 ORtg, 107 DRtg

Wall has had better defensive season, but never better offensive seasons and he and the Wizards seem to be playing some of the best basketball in the NBA. There is a lot of expectations building up for the playoffs and this team. Hopefully they can keep it going.

James Young (Boston Celtics)
7.7 MPG, 48.8% FG, 42.9% 3Pt, 1.1 Reb, 2.8 PTS, 122 ORtg, 111 DRtg

Young is getting very little playing time. He is shooting better, but I fear it may all be too little too late for him to find a home next year in the NBA.

  1. When the Suns drafted Kyle Macy, I tried to become a Phoenix fan for a few seasons. I wrote the team for memorabilia, and I followed their boxscores in The Sporting News. But it didn't take. I switched back to the Bullets even before Macy went to Chicago.

  3. Shoot! Sorry to hear that. Maybe they'll bring back Darius Miller.
