MLB Playoffs: Day 9

So far, the big story in the American League playoffs has been the pitching of the Cleveland Indians.  In three games against the slugging Boston Red Sox, Cleveland pitchers had a combined E.R.A. of only 2.33, and the Tribe swept the Bostons.  Last night, in Cleveland, the Indians faced another powerful line-up -- this one belonging to the Blue Jays -- and the Tribe pitched a shut out.  Corey Kluber (18-9 in the regular season) went 6 1/3 innings, the Indian bullpen did the rest, and the Tribe had a 2-0 victory.  The only runs of the game scored on a 2-run homer by Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the 6th.

Cleveland 2 - 0 Toronto

NATIONAL LEAGUE:
Chicago and Los Angeles are tied 0-0

AMERICAN LEAGUE:
Cleveland leads Toronto 1-0

  1. Among my favorite Blue Jays and Indians of all time, respectively, are SIU's Dave Stieb and Dick Bosman.
