Today in the European Soccer Championships, Wales crushed Russia by the score of 3-0. Meanwhile, England and Slovakia finished with a scoreless tie. So the final standings in Group B look like this:
1. WALES: 6 points (2-0-1)
2. England: 5 points (1-0-2)
3. Slovakia: 4 points (1-1-1)
4. Russia: 1 point (0-2-1)
Russia is eliminated, Wales and England move on to the Round of 16 – but Wales will get a better draw, since it finished top of the group.
This is the first time in history that Wales has made it to the European Soccer Championships, and the first major soccer tournament of any kind for Wales since the 1958 World Cup.
