College Baseball Update

Here were the final standings in the SEC (conference games only).  Teams in italics did not qualify for the SEC Tournament.  Numbers show the seeding for the tournament:

EAST:

Twelve SEC schools came together in Hoover, Ala. for the SEC Tournament.  Here's how it has gone so far:

May 24:
Vanderbilt 7, Missouri 0 (Missouri eliminated)
Mississippi 5, Georgia 1 (Georgia eliminated)
Alabama 5, Kentucky 2 (Kentucky eliminated)
Louisiana St. 5, Tennessee 4 (Tennessee eliminated)

May 25:
Vanderbilt 6, Texas A & M 5
Mississippi 10, S. Carolina 4
Mississippi St. 4, Alabama 1
Louisiana St. 5, Florida 3 (14 innings)

May 26:
Texas A & M 4, S. Carolina 1 (S. Carolina eliminated)
Florida 5, Alabama 4 (Alabama eliminated)
Mississippi 12, Vanderbilt 9
Louisiana St. 6, Mississippi St. 2

Today Vanderbilt plays Texas A & M, while Mississippi St. takes on Florida.

  1. Texas A & M beat Vandy 13-3 in only 7 innings, thanks to the mercy rule. Vandy is eliminated.

    Florida beat Mississippi St. 12-2 in only 7 innings, thanks to the mercy rule. Vandy is eliminated.

  2. In Saturday's first semi-final, Ole Miss led Texas A & M 8-5 going into the eighth inning. But the Aggies roared back, scoring seven runs in the last two innings for a 12 to 8 victory. Ole Miss is eliminated, and Texas A & M moves to the final.

  3. In other news, the College of William & Mary was eliminated from the CAA tournament on Thursday. The CAA crown went to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

  4. WKU went 10-20 in conference play, and did not qualify for the C-USA tournament.

  5. Morehead State was the only Kentucky school to qualify for the OVC baseball tournament, but the Eagles were eliminated on Friday in back-to-back shutouts by SEMO and Belmont.

  6. Washington State is 11-17 in Pac-12 play.

    The University of Idaho does not appear to have a baseball team.

  7. Florida and LSU are about to meet in the other SEC semi-final. The winner will face TAMU for the title tomorrow.

  10. Florida beats LSU 1-0, and the Gators will meet Texas A & M for the title tomorrow.
