My 2015 Mix Tape

Every year I compile my favorite songs of the year into a 20 song mix tape. It counts down from 20 to 1 in order of how I ranked the songs.

  2. Here's my favorite new song of the year. I think it's just a beautiful and correct song in every way about riding out grief. The lyric reminds me of U2's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For;" the sound reminds me of Pete Townshend's "Slit Skirts" and 10,000 Maniacs' "Eat for Two," and I can totally imagine Bruce Springsteen howling out ...

    When I close my eyes, imagine us dead and gone
    The bright light of Kingdom Come, but I can't see


    So, you know, it's pretty much my 1988 mix tape all wrapped together in one song, and yet it's totally brand new and ripped from my today's headlines all at the same time.

    It took me 25 years to finally love "Closer To Fine," but I'm all in early on this Indigo Girls song.
