The Racers Could Be in Big Trouble

Murray State made a very good showing in the Charleston Classic this weekend, ultimately falling in the final to Colorado 81-74.  Ken Pomeroy currently has the Racers ranked number 78, which is very good for an OVC school.  But new OVC member Belmont went to Stanford last night and whipped the Cardinal 70-62.  Pomeroy has the Bruins ranked at number 21, and he estimates that they will finish with a better OVC record (14-2) than the Racers (13-3).  I am very afraid that before the season is over, a lot of people in Murray will be sorry that the OVC allowed Belmont to join.

On the other hand, Pomeroy now ranks the OVC as a tougher conference than the Sun Belt.  Maybe Western and MTSU should come back.
