MLB Playoffs: Day 4

The NL took the day off, but there were some pretty good games today in the American League. Tampa Bay sent out their ace, David Price, who was terrible in last year's playoffs. He was pretty good today, but not good enough. He took a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning, and came out of it down 4-1. Tampa tried to fight back, but they came up just short, losing 4-3.

Meanwhile, the Yankees and Tigers sent out their aces, C.C. Sabathia and Justin Verlander, respectively, who finally got to have the matchup that was rained out in Game 1. The Yankees jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Tigers tied the game in the third. The Tigers tacked on runs in the 5th and the 6th to take a 4-2 lead. The Yankees fought back with two runs in the 7th to tie the game at 4, but in the bottom of the 7th, Delmon Young hit a home run off of the always-shaky Yankee bullpen to give Detroit the lead. And that was all she wrote. The Yankees are down 2-1, and they will have to win in Detroit tomorrow if they want to salvage their season.

National League Divisional Series (best of 5):
Philadelphia and St. Louis tied 1-1
Milwaukee leads Arizona 2-0

American League Divisional Series (best of 5):
Detroit leads New York 2-1
Texas leads Tampa Bay 2-1

  1. I heard Tim Kurkjian on the radio about a month ago, and he was saying he felt like it was a Tigers year.

He's so, so good--on the radio, especially.
