Thirty-Two Franchises: Minnesota Vikings

Have participated in the NFL since the 1961 season.

All-Time Record:  537-438-11 (.551)

Super Bowl Record:  0-4

In the 1976 season, the Vikings went 11-2-1, went to the Super Bowl for the fourth time, and were crushed by the Raiders.  Since then, there have been fifteen seasons in which the Vikings won at least ten games.  There have been nine other seasons in which the Vikings went to the playoffs without winning ten games.  So that's 24 trips to the NFC playoffs in the last 49 seasons, which is very good.  In none of those seasons did they win the NFC.  They made it to the NFC title game in the seasons for 1987, 1998, 2000, 2009, and 2017.  They lost every time.

Top Passer:  Fran Tarkenton (33,098 yds)
Top Rusher:  Adrian Peterson (11,747 yds)
Top Receiver:  Cris Carter (12,383 yds)
Top Coach:  Bud Grant (158 wins)

Bud Grant coached the Vikings from 1967 through 1985.  His record was 158-96-5 in the regular season, and 10-12 in the playoffs.

Top All-Time Player Based on Approximate Value:  Carl Eller (AV of 177).

  1. Six Teams Left. Minnesota is obviously the highest-ranked team that has never won the Super Bowl.

  2. It's amazing to think that the Vikings have gone almost 50 years without winning the NFC.
