Power Eleven

Here's the Power Eleven High School Football Teams in Western Kentucky, according to the rankings on MaxPreps:

15.  Paducah Tilghman:  5-0
22.  Mayfield:  3-1
37.  Union Co:  5-0
43.  Henderson Co:  1-4
57.  Logan Co:  4-1
59.  McCracken Co:  3-2
60.  Madisonville-N. Hopkins:  4-1
74.  Graves Co:  2-3
89.  Murray:  4-1
93.  Crittenden Co:  2-2
96.  Christian Co:  1-3

And here are the Top Five teams in the Commonwealth:

1.  Boyle Co:  5-0
2.  Corbin:  4-0
3.  Lou. Male:  3-1
4.  Lex. Frederick Douglass:  2-2
5.  Lou. Trinity:  2-3

  1. Since the beginning of the 2022 season, Union County has a record of 17-1. Their only lost was to Bardstown in last year's State Quarterfinals.

  2. At the half, Tilghman leads Allen County-Scottsville 42 to 0.

  3. With 7:41 left in the 3d quarter in West Paducah, Murray leads McCracken County 24 to 21.

  4. Before a huge crowd of 18,000 people in Louisville, Trinity is pounding St. X 42-10 with 3:28 left in the third quarter. I once attended a Trinity/St. X game, and I recommend it to all fans of Kentucky high school football.

  5. With 11:30 left in the 4th quarter, Marshall County leads Muhlenberg County 36-7. Adam Wells tweets that the Marshals are about to pick up their first district win since October 2016, which was basically a different era of history.

  6. Graves County won at Madisonville-North Hopkins, 20-14, in a final score that I doublechecked at a second site to make sure it was accurate. I saw the end of the first half and a bit of the second, and I thought the game was headed to a three- or four-touchdown win for the Eagles.

Murray ended up winning by 38-35 at McCracken County. So I'm actually pretty impressed with how these rankings held up. Both Murray and Graves County won at teams who were rated higher than them, but the finals were pretty close, and MaxPreps had all four teams in a pretty tight ratings clump.

Also, Mayfield won at Henderson County, 38-24.
