Here's the latest ESPN top 10:
1. San Francisco: 2-0
2. Dallas: 2-0
3. Philadelphia: 2-0
4. Miami: 2-0
5. Kansas City: 1-1
6. Baltimore: 2-0
7. Buffalo: 1-1
8. Detroit: 1-1
9. Jacksonville: 1-1
10. New Orleans: 2-0
There are no games this week featuring two top ten teams. The most interesting matchup is probably in Minnesota, where the Vikings will be hosting the Chargers in a noon Sunday game. Both teams expected to go to the playoffs, both are 0-2, and the loser will be in a very deep hole the rest of the way.
In the Survivor Pool, I'm taking Kansas City at home against the Bears.

The Jacksonville score is wrong. It should be:
DeleteJacksonville 0 - 17 Houston (3d)
Jacksonville scores, so its now: Jacksonville 7 - 17 Houston (3d)
DeleteMy biggest concern for the Washington/Buffalo game is that I didn't want Sam Howell to get hurt. So far, he hasn't gotten hurt -- but he is 11-18 for 113 yards, zero touchdowns, and THREE interceptions.

Meanwhile, on the Sirius/XM "On Broadway" Channel, it's time for Sunday Funday. They're currently playing "One Normal Night" from "The Addams Family," a number that I really like.
ReplyDeleteOn Friday mornings at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School, they celebrate "Fri-YAY!" A line of kids waves signs and slaps high-fives with other kids getting off the buses and out of their cars as they enter the school. I love Fri-YAY! and usually threaten my daughter with honking the horn and flashing the headlights on our vehicle as she approaches the Fri-YAY! line.
DeleteOh, doctor! After Jacksonville closes to within 10-17, the Texans RUN BACK THE KICKOFF FOR A TOUCHDOWN. Houston leads 24-10. I'm really glad I didn't take Jacksonville in the Survivor Pool.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Washington has 14 minutes left to avoid its first shutout since 2019.
ReplyDeleteWashington immediately fumbles. That's at least their fourth turnover of the game.

ReplyDeleteI find myself having a lot of sympathy for the Cousinses this season.
DeleteTrevor Lawrence throws an interception, and the Jaguar's season appears to be off the rails.
ReplyDeleteJosh Allen dashes in for a TD to put Buffalo up 23-0, as reality comes to DC. You can play that clip of Dennis Green saying "They are who we thought they were."
ReplyDeleteFor a team like Washington, Buffalo is the worst possible opponent. The Chiefs or Eagles may overlook an opponent, or at least let you hang around. Buffalo struggles with teams that can keep the game close -- but if the Bills smell weakness, they will humiliate you.
ReplyDeleteDetroit scores to go up 20-3 on Atlanta with 9:50 left.
ReplyDeleteSam Howell throws his FOURTH interception of the day. This one is a Pick Six that puts Buffalo up 30-0. But at least Howell isn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteNext Sunday, Buffalo hosts Miami at noon Central. I really want to watch that game.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore 17 - 16 Indianapolis (4th)

Cleveland goes up 27-3 with 6 minutes left, and that will sink the Titans.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore has the ball and a one point lead with 2:32 left. But it's 3d and 5 at midfield.
ReplyDeleteOn 3d and 5, the Colts sack Lamar Jackson, so Indy will get another chance.
ReplyDeleteNow On Broadway, they're playing "Soliloquy," from Carousel. That's one of the five best numbers in musical theater.
ReplyDeleteWith 5:24 left, the Jets close to within 13-10.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore 17 - 16 Indianapolis (4th quarter)
ReplyDeleteCleveland 27 - 3 Tennessee (4th)

N.Y. Jets 10 - 13 New England (4th)
Washington 0 - 30 Buffalo (4th)
Houston throws a bomb to go up 34-17, and that should sink the Jags.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore has to punt, downs the punt inside the two, and then sacks Indy for a safety. Ravens lead 19-16 and they have the ball with less than two minutes left.
With 1:48 left, Indy holds and the Ravens will have to punt.

The Saints MISS their field goal. Green Bay takes over.
ReplyDeleteBefore today, the most points the Dolphins had ever scored in a game was 55, which they put up against the Cardinals on November 24, 1977. They have now broken that record.
ReplyDeleteThat win over the Cardinals is probably the sweetest vindictive memory of my childhood.
DeleteIndy goes first in overtime.
ReplyDeleteNo NFL team has score more than 63 points in a game since 1966 -- until today.
ReplyDeleteIndy punts, and Baltimore runs the punt back to midfield.
ReplyDeleteThe Patriots know you're supposed to knock down a Hail Mary pass, and they beat the Jets 15-10.

ReplyDeleteWales lead Australia 32-6 with under 20 minutes left.
ReplyDeleteWith 1 minute left, the Colts finally finish off the Ravens, 22 to 19. That's a bad loss for the Ravens.
ReplyDeleteFinal scores of the noon Central games:
