  7. Hyo-joo Kim birdies the sixth hole and moves into a tie for second at 6-under par. She has five wins on the LPGA Tour, including the 2014 Evian Championship, and must be considered the favorite at this point.

  9. H.J. Kim bogeyed the 8th hole to fall back to 5 under. Tardy bogeyed the 9th hole to fall back to 5 under. Corpuz goes out in 1-under par 35. That leaves her all alone in the lead at 6 under par.

  11. Corpuz birdies the 10th hole and moves out to a two-shot lead at 7-under par.

There are only seven golfers that are still under par, and none of them has ever won the U.S. Women's Open.

  12. And now Tardy chips in for a birdie on 11 and moves to 6-under par. She is really hanging in there.

  13. And now Corpuz has had a dreadful three-putt -- she missed a two-footer for par -- and she falls back to 6-under par, in a tie with Tardy.

  14. Tardy immediately gives back her birdie with a bogey on 12. She's back to 5 under. Corpuz saves par and remains at 6 under.

  15. Meanwhile, Nasa Hataoka is shooting the round of the day. She is 4-under through 13 holes, and 5-under for the tournament, and she is now only one shot out of the lead.

  17. H.J. Kim has not taken control of this tournament the way I expected. She bogeys the 14th hole, and falls back to 4 under.

  18. Nasa Hataoka holes a long birdie putt on 16 and moves into a tie for the lead. She has played an almost perfect round -- 5 birdies and 11 pars. No one else has come close today.

  19. But then Corpuz immediately birdies the 14th and goes back into the lead at 7 under. She's really played well.

  20. Hataoka has six wins on the LPGA Tour, but no major titles. Now she pours in yet another birdie on the 17th hole. That's six birdies and 11 pars, and she's tied for the lead at 7 under.

  21. If Hataoka pars the last hole, she will shoot a 6-under par 66. To put that in perspective, no one else today has broken 70, and no one else is on pace to do so. So if current trends continue, she's going to beat the field by at least four shots.

  22. Meanwhile, Tardy takes a double bogey on the 15th hole and falls back to 3 under par. Corpuz and Hataoka are now tied with each other, and three shots clear of everyone else.

  23. Hataoka pars the last hole to come in with a blazing 66 -- 34 out and 32 in. What an amazing round.

  24. Tardy birdied the 16th hole to get back to 4-under. Corpuz remains at 7-under. Both golfers are now on the 18th tee, and they will close out the third round.

    Presidents Cup: United States
    Walker Cup: United States
    Solheim Cup: Europe
    Curtis Cup: United States

  27. Tardy pars out for a 75 that leaves her at 4 under. Corpuz bogeys the last hole and settles for a 71 that leave her at 6 under -- one shot behind Hataoka.
