Album Review: I Never Learn by Lykke Li

Back in 2011 I gave Lykke Li's last album three stars. That means that coming into this album I had pretty high expectations. I was a little disappointed.

For this album she stripped down the sound and the tempo and went with a very angst filled album. It's short at only 9 tracks and focused, all of these are songs of love, mostly failed or failing love in some way or another. This is good in a sense that it gives the album a mood that carries through, but if you aren't in the mood for angst ridden love songs, then you probably won't be in the mood for this one.

What Li does do well is continue to write catchy melodies  and even in these sparse songs you get hooked in, a tough trick to pull off.

So if you are a 20 something and going through a tough breakup then this would probably be a good kick in the gut album to play

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
