Best of the 70's: This Year's Model by Elvis Costello

This Year's ModelSitting at number 65 on the Best of the 70's list is the sophomore album from Costello which came out a year after My Aim is True. On this album Costello did two important things.  First he proved that his first album was not a fluke as he bounced back with a solid collection of songs.  Second he formed the Attractions and flushed out his sound.  Even though this album doesn't have any of his big singles like "Alison" this is the sound we think of when we think Elvis Costello.

Again if you like Costello but don't know this album it is a must.  Like all good Costello albums this can be played at any time in any mood and is best when you can actually dial in to the songs.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.

  1. Man, this has been a lot of Elvis Costello. I just can't imagine there are too many Elvis Costello listeners among our Heath Post followers/readers. But who knows?
