Best of the 70's: Moondance by Van Morrison

MoondanceComing in at number 36 on the Best of the 70's list is yet another 1970 release.  Though Astral Weeks is usually considered his master work I think this is Van Morrison 's best effort.

There really isn't a bad moment on the album and it has such a positive vibe flowing through it that it's always a fun listen.

I had a friend who was a huge Van Morrison fan, loved his voice, and it was talking to her that made me realize that his voice really is the strongest parts of his music.  I think he's easy to dismiss as a singer, but like Bruce Springsteen or Bob Dylan he knows how to bring the proper emotion to every syllable.

I have to say this album has always been something I like to throw on in the fall on a pretty, cool day with the windows open.  It's great for sparking conversation and so if on that fall day you are cooking dinner for that girl who is your best friend, but you want more, then you really can't go wrong with this on in the background.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 4 out of 5 stars for Really Good.
