Day 6 of the FIBA World Championship

The Group stages are now finished. In Group A, Serbia and Argentina both finished 4-1. In Group B, the USA went 5-0 and Slovenia went 4-1. In Group C, Turkey was 5-0 and Russia was 4-1. In Group D, Lithuania went 5-0; Spain, France, and New Zealand all went 3-2.

The top 4 teams in each group will advance to the round of 16 -- or the "eighth finals" as FIBA calls it. I have no idea how FIBA breaks ties, so I won't know the draw until it is posted on the FIBA web page.

The USA had the biggest favorable point difference -- they outscored their opponents by 124 points. Serbia did outscore the Americans by 10 points, but they allowed 25 more points as well.
The Americans were also the only team to win four games by more than 15 points -- Spain, Brazil, and Serbia were the only other teams with at least 3 wins by 15 points or more.

Jordan, Tunisia, and Canada were the only teams to lose all 5 of their games.

Angola 55 - 76 Australia
Argentina 82 - 84 Serbia
Jordan 73 - 91 Germany

GROUP B:

GROUP C:
Puerto Rico 79 - 88 Ivory Coast
Greece 69 - 73 Russia
Turkey 87 - 40 China

GROUP D:
Spain 89 - 67 Canada
Lebanon 66 - 84 Lithuania
