  2. I'm stunned by that Marshall County result, even though the game was in Murray. I was at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Benton Sunday morning, and part of my route there was on Joe Fulks Road, so I thought there was pretty much zero way that Marshall County wasn't going to complete the girls/boys regional double play.

Girls’ state tournament starts Wednesday, by the way:

    — Ashland Blazer vs. North Laurel at 10 a.m. Central
    — Knott County Central vs. Taylor County at 12:30 p.m.
    — George Rogers Clark vs. Franklin-Simpson at 5
    — Frederick Douglass vs. Simon Kenton at 7:30

The remaining first-round games are Thursday:

    — Johnson Central vs. Sacred Heart at 10 a.m.
    — Mercy vs. Cooper at 12:30 p.m.
    — Henderson County vs. Marshall County at 5 p.m.
    — Danville Christian vs. Daviess County at 7:30 p.m.

  4. St. X leads Trinity 46 to 30 with one quarter to go. Believe it or not, St. X hasn't been to the State Tournament since 1995.

  5. In the Fourth Region Quarterfinals, Barren County leads Warren Central 27-19 at the half. That would be one of the biggest upsets I've ever heard of.

  9. St. X wins the Seventh Region, beating Trinity 59 to 44. It is very rare for a team to win the Seventh Region with three blowouts, but that's what St. X did this year.

  10. BARREN COUNTY DEFEATS WARREN CENTRAL 58 TO 44 IN THE FOURTH REGION QUARTERFINALS! THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2018 THAT BOTH FINALISTS IN REGION FOUR WILL NOT BE FROM DISTRICT 14.

    1. I'm sorry -- it's the first time since 2017, when Bowling Green beat Russellville in the Fourth Region final.

    2. Wow! That is huge. At the youth retreat in Marshall County this past weekend, I spent a lot of times with people from Barren County. I'm very happy for them.
