In the late game last night, Evangel Christian beat Trinity 57 to 46. So the semi-finals look like this:
(1) Great Crossing (36-1) v. (7) Lyon Co. (34-3) (10 A.M. Central)
(9) Harlan Co. (33-4) v. (11) Evangel Christian (31-6) (12:30 P.M. Central)
On paper, this is one of the strongest collections of semi-finalists I can remember.

LYON COUNTY BEATS GREAT CROSSING 58 TO 49! One of the greatest sports victories in the history of our part of the state. Lyon County becomes only the second team from west of Hoptown to reach the State Final since 1983, and the first since 2002.
ReplyDeleteLYON COUNTY WINS IT ALL! THE LYONS BEAT HARLAN COUNTY 67 TO 58. I moved to Paducah in 1973, and this is the greatest single sports victory I've seen for our region in my lifetime. Congratulations to everyone in Lyon County.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell, Lyon County is the smallest public school to win the State Championship since 1967, when Earlington won it.
ReplyDeleteHarlan County was the first team from the Thirteenth Region to reach the Final since 1988.
ReplyDeleteThe distance from Eddyville to Harlan -- 337 miles -- is the longest route between any two finalists in the history of the Tournament.
ReplyDeleteJason Frakes reports that total attendance for the Sweet 16 was 99,915 -- the highest since 2014.
