Album Reviews: Yotto, Sunny War, The Smashing Pumpkins, MOD SUN

Growth by Yotto

Yotto is a Finish based DJ/Producer.  There are songs on here that you can pull off for a dance mix, workout mix, walking mix, whatever.  That being said there isn't any one song that really jumped out at me.

Anarchist Gospel by Sunny War

A mix of folk and blues does seem like a good way to describe Sunny War's sound.  I found this to be a good listen.  Great album for walking the dog or for background music.  Similar to the Yotto album there isn't any song on here that really grabbed me.

ATUM by The Smashing Pumpkins

I've never been a big Smashing Pumpkins fan.  For me they were a one hit wonder with "1979."  If you like Smashing Pumpkins then I would say give it a listen and see what you think.  For me this album didn't do much to change my impression of them.

God Save the Teen by MOD SUN

It's what I think of as emo pop.  If you feel like being a bit angsty then it can be fun.  Like the albums from Yotto and Sunny War I enjoyed listening to the album, but it's not something I'll be coming back to.

  1. I enjoyed the Yotto and Sunny War songs a good bit and had never heard of either, so thanks for introducing me to them.

I was more of a Smashing Pumpkins fan than you were, and, from the listen to this song, I can imagine being pretty excited about this new album from them if I still followed release after release from a particular artist the way I did in another season of life. I imagine I would love this Smashing Pumpkins record as much as, say, I genuinely loved several later Prince and Pete Townshend albums after they were off popular peak. I come late to stuff, but I tend to stick late with the stuff I eventually get to.
