If the NCAA were 16 Regions

As we head into the last weekend of the SEC regular season, here is the latest breakdown:

1st:  Connecticut (20)
2d:  St. John's (66)
3d: Villanova (12)
4th:  Virginia Tech (27)
5th:  Duke (5)
6th:  Auburn (7)
7th: Louisiana St. (16) (Arkansas 19)
8th:  Kentucky (3) (Tennessee 11)
9th:  Ohio St. (24)
10th: Purdue (13)
11th:  Iowa (14) (Illinois 18)
12th:  Kansas (10)
13th:  Baylor (2) (Houston 6) (Texas Tech 9) (Texas 15)
14th:  Arizona (4)
15th:  Gonzaga (1)
16th:  UCLA (8) (Saint Mary's 17)

This is the last one of these that we'll do until there there only 16 teams left in the real NCAA's, and then we'll compare how they came out.

With these teams, and the draw from this year's KHSAA Tournament, the first round of the NCAA's would look like this:

Wednesday, March 16:
Kansas v. Auburn
Kentucky v. Villanova
Purdue v. Arizona
Gonzaga v. Baylor

Thursday, March 17:
Duke v. St. John's
UCLA v. Ohio St.
Connecticut v. Iowa
Louisiana St. v. Virginia Tech

Here's the latest in the 8th Region:

29th District:  (3) Kentucky, (121) Morehead St.
30th District:  (26) Murray St. (112) W. Kentucky
31st District:  (11) Tennessee, (75) Chattanooga
32d District:  (35) Memphis, (78) Belmont

Which would give us the following matchups:

Murray St. v. Morehead St.
Tennessee v. Belmont
Memphis v. Chattanooga
Kentucky v. W. Kentucky

It's been a pretty exciting regular season, and I have a feeling that the first real post-season since 2019 will have some amazing drama.  Folks are going to be ready to scream and holler, and I think they're going to get their chance.
