    1. I'm so looking forward to going through these comments. OK, I'm rooting for McLean, Central, Etown, Jtown (I was in Jtown just on Sunday and had a blast), Woodford, Dixie, Bracken, Lincoln, Estill and Blazer.

  2. The last poll featured 11 teams because there was a tie for 10th:

Greenwood (T10) lost to (8) Bowling Green in the 14th District Semi-Finals.
McCracken Co. (T10) lost to Murray in the 1st Region Finals.
Lou. Ballard (4) lost to Lou. Male (2) in the 7th Region Finals.

The other eight teams are all still alive. Lou. Male (2), North Laurel (6), and Pikeville (9) have already qualified for State. The other five ranked teams are playing in regional finals tonight.

  3. In 1975, Male defeated Henry Clay in the finals of the State Tournament. This is the first year since then that both Male and Henry Clay have made it this far.

  4. If the current MaxPreps rankings are accurate, the State Semi-Finals would be:

Lou. Doss v. George Rogers Clark
    Cov. Catholic v. Lou. Male

    1. I would be rooting for Male in this scenario because two of my best WKU friends went to Male, and one of them was quite a good basketball player. But I'll bet I would wear him out now.

  5. Bellarmine beat Jacksonville 77-72 to win the Atlantic Sun Tournament. Dan Issel and Artis Gilmore were both at the game, which makes me happy.

    1. That is excellent! My dad had a story about literally running in to Artis Gilmore in a train station in Chicago. He was not surprised by Gilmore's height (because Dad was a basketball fan); it was Gilmore's width that really took Dad aback.

  12. I think that on this night, every year, there should be a special broadcast all over Kentucky -- and on the Internet -- that takes you from one regional game to the next, like ESPN used to do for the NCAA's.

    1. I feel like that's what you accomplish at the HP.

    2. But I agree, and I think KET could potentially pay for a lot of itself all year with this move if Matt Bevin ever moves back to Kentucky from wherever he's living now and becomes our "governor" again.

  19. In the Horizon League Final, Northern Kentucky loses to Wright State 72 to 71. Heartbreak for the Norse. But Louisville beats Georgia Tech 84-74 to keep its season alive in the ACC.

  20. Eric's guy Ray Harper has guided Jacksonville State into the NCAA Tournament. Bellarmine won the Atlantic Sun. But since Bellarmine isn't eligible for the Tournament, Jacksonville State (the best team in the regular season) gets the bid.

  21. Ray Harper has coached 11 seasons in D-1: five with Western Kentucky and six with Jacksonville State. He's never had a team ranked higher than 110 on Ken Pom. And yet this will be his fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament.

    1. If I was Calipari, I'd hire Ray Harper away from Jacksonville State and then buy him a house with a pond or whatever he wants in Muhlenberg County. Any time UK was facing some knife-fight game in one of these awful places like Starkville, then I might give myself and the rest of the full-time coaching staff a few days off, dispatch the helicopter Joe B used to recruit Larry Johnson and Fred Cowan and let RayRay have at it.
