My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

I'm always wanting to remind people that this song does not mean what most people thinks it does.  The point of the song is not that cowboys are heroic, but that the narrator wrecked his life by imitating cowboys.

It's a brilliant song, and I would post the lyrics on here, but I can't find a version that shows the proper way to show the copyright.  The song was written by Sharon Vaughn, and she's apparently a genius.

  1. I should acknowledge that until about a year ago, I thought "Building a Mystery" by Sarah McLachlan was all about how great some guy is. Then I finally paid attention, and now I know it's about how awful the guy is.

  2. Sharon Vaughn needs a much better Wikipedia page. Why did she leave the US for instance? How did she end up in Stockholm?
