Album Reviews: Bring Me the Horizon, Julia Michaels, and American Authors

This is the 6th studio album from Bring Me the Horizon. I've never heard of these guys, but they started out from what I gather as a pretty strict metalcore band and have slowly been moving to more of a blend of metalcore and pop. This album is definitely blending the two sounds as can be heard in the song "Mantra" and does it quite well. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

There isn't a lot to this 6 track EP. It just feels very tired. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

I was introduced to this band by my wife and my four year old daughter when this band had their first album for the song "Best Day Of My Life." That's all I knew of the band so I was curious when I added this 3rd release to my playlist. It's disappointing. It feels too overproduced, overthought out. At the heart of the band is a solid pop/rock sound but they tend to get lost somewhere in the production. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

  1. I could imagine my daughter creating a dance for the third song here.
