Album Review: The Mood Kill by Candice Pillay

This is an interesting album. It has very good moments and moments that are OK, and more or less it's too long at 15 tracks. The moments that are good are quite good and have a very interesting sound. The funny thing about this album, her debut, is that it has essentially been swept under the rug since it came out back in December 2014. I haven't listened to her new Dr. Dre produced EP, so not sure if her sound has changed dramatically or not, but depending on what direction they went she could be quite an interesting artist.

As I said too many tracks but more than half are under 3 minutes so it's not too bad.  I find the first third of the album to be the strongest part.  Definitely some songs you could pick off of here for a workout mix, year end collection, etc.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. There are some interesting sounds here, but I sure don't like that slowed-down-voice deal that is so popular.
