What's On TV Tonight (1969)?

There's no indication in the "Televiewer" published by Hopkinsville's Kentucky New Era on July 28, 1969, that Nina Simone is part of the Harlem Cultural Festival mashup that CBS is broadcasting tonight, but, man, oh, man, I hope she is ...

And Sly and the Family Stone ...

Indeed, there's a load of good TV on tonight 1969. The What Four's on Johnny Carson, and I love Lucy.

  1. Those pictures really capture the magic of "Here's Lucy."

Netflix is now carrying a documentary about Nina Simone -- you should check it out.

  2. In the Lucy Show rerun that CBS shows tonight, there's a moment where Lucille Ball and Don Rickles jump rope together using the same jumprope. They stand tightly together and jump up and down to some kids' jump-roping chant. The episode is, of course, ridiculous, but I actually did laugh out loud at the sight of these two middle-aged people jumping and chanting together within the circle of the same jumprope. I love it when a TV show makes me actually laugh out loud.
