Winningest Programs of All Time

With the new season starting tonight, here are the 20 teams with the most wins in college basketball history.  After 111 years, UK has a 14-game lead over Kansas.  Of course, UK also has 150 fewer losses than Kansas.  By the way, Louisville has a chance to catch Indiana this year:

1.  Kentucky:  2,140 (UK is first in winning percentage)
2.  Kansas:  2,126
3.  N. Carolina:  2,114
4.  Duke:  2,027
5.  Syracuse:  1,902
6.  Temple:  1,823
7.  UCLA:  1,781
8.  St. John's:  1,774
9.  Notre Dame:  1,763
10.  Indiana:  1,736
11.  Louisville:  1,728 (U of L is 7th in winning percentage)
12.  Pennsylvania:  1,714
13.  Brigham Young:  1,713
14.  Illinois:  1,710
15.  Utah:  1,706
16.  Washington:  1,700
17.  Texas:  1,699
18.  W. Kentucky:  1,695 (WKU is 8th in winning percentage)

For the record, Murray State is in 49th place with 1,524 wins.  But the Racers are 16th in all-time winning percentage, ahead of Villanova and Indiana.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal has crunched the numbers, and chosen Kentucky as the top college basketball program of all time.  We will not disagree.
