College Baseball Update

The Ragin' Cajuns!  As we head into the NCAA Baseball Tournament this week, the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns are ranked NUMBER ONE by Baseball America.  I don't remember ever seeing a Sun Belt team ranked number one in any sport.

Meanwhile, UK's strong performance in the SEC Tournament allowed the Cats to claw their way back into the top 25.  The Cats are heading for Louisville.  The teams in their region are seeded as follows:

1.  Louisville
2.  Kentucky
3.  Kansas
4.  Kent State

A lot of history in that region.

Here's the last top 25 poll we will post this year.  The top eight seeds in the NCAA Tournament (which have the right to play at home during both the regionals and super-regionals) are in bold.  The next eight seeds (which get to host regionals) are in italics.  As you will see, the seedings were very generous to Vandy and very harsh to Cal Poly:

1.  La-Lafayette:  53-7
2.  Oregon St:  42-12
3.  Florida:  40-21
4.  Florida St:  43-15
5.  Cal Poly:  45-10
6.  Indiana:  42-13
7.  Louisiana St:  44-14
8.  Virginia:  44-13
9.  Texas Christian:  42-15
10.  Oklahoma St:  45-16
11.  Miami (Fla.):  41-17
12.  Mississippi:  41-18
13.  Louisville:  45-15
14.  Washington:  39-15
15.  Houston:  44-15
16.  Rice:  41-18
17.  Mississippi St:  37-22
18.  S. Carolina:  42-16
19.  Nebraska:  40-19
20.  Vanderbilt:  41-18
21.  Texas:  38-18
22.  Kentucky:  35-23
