  1. A Jimmy Carter joke almost a year after the election. That's pretty rough.

  2. LaSorda used to appear from time to time on the Tonight Show as a guest.

  3. That Howard Cosell joke was really sharp-edged.

  4. A joke based on everybody knowing that Dave Winfield was really tall ... wow.

  5. It still gets me that Jim Garner and Mariette Hartley weren't married.

  6. There's no sense of hurry to this program. The little Laurel & Hardy deal ... the thanks for the birthday cards ... the little story about being stung on the hand by the hornets ... the leisure to this show is very appealing.

  7. Wow ... once he saw how this Angie Dickinson one-on-one started to go, Ed McMahon should've faked a heart attack to suspend filming of the episode, force them to put on a "Best of Carson" and get Johnny to go home to his wife.

  9. Of course, maybe Angie Dickinson and Johnny Carson were discussing all of that stuff--just not on the parts of the show that we got to see on Channel 6.
