MLB Playoffs: Day Seven

For the third year in a row, the Cardinals faced a winner-take-all Game Five in the National League Divisional Series -- and for the third year in a row, the Cardinals prevailed.  Adam Wainwright dominated the Pirates, and the Cardinals cruised to a 6-1 victory.  Pittsburgh had two chances to eliminate St. Louis, but the Bucs could not manage more than a single run in Game Four or Five.  So St. Louis moves on to play the Dodgers in the NLCS -- expect lots of Jack Clark references over the next few days.

So that just leaves Detroit and Oakland, who will settle their series tonight in Oakland:

National League Divisional Series:
Los Angeles beat Atlanta 3-1
St. Louis beat Pittsburgh 3-2

American League Divisional Series:
Boston beat Tampa Bay 3-1
Oakland and Detroit are tied 2-2

Tonight's game:
Detroit at Oakland (7:07 Central Time) (on TBS)

Good luck to Eric and the Swingin' A's.
