Album Review: Red by Dia Frampton

This is Dia Frampton's solo debut after taking second place in the first season of The Voice. She is fine on the album, but the album is a bit of a mess. The opening track is a great example. It's a fun pop song that is completely ruined by having a throw in Kid Cudi feature performance. Still it's a fun hook heavy song and so you move on feeling pretty good about things. Then a few songs later you get the horrible "I Will" featuring Blake Shelton. It is such an overdone Nashville piece of junk it really zaps your energy for the rest of the album.

When it is simply Dia Frampton singing it is not bad and a fun pop album, but the album feels a bit lost going from one sound to the next with no fixed direction. The more I listened to the album the less I liked it and that's a shame. Hopefully for her next album she can team up with a producer that can tap into her talent and produce a solid well constructed album.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

  1. I like this song fine.

I thought the lyric should've ended with an invitation to church.
