According to Coach Cal's web page, Nerlens Noel suffered a torn ACL in last night's game against Florida and he is out for the rest of the year. This is terrible news for Noel, who has played great all year and who deserves much better. Here are some facts for UK fans to remember him by:
He was leading the nation in total blocks and blocks per game.
He was second in the SEC with 9.5 rebounds per game.
He was averaging 10.5 points per game while leading UK in steals.
He set a school record with 12 blocks in one game at Ole Miss a few weeks ago.
His 106 blocks this season places him second only to Anthony Davis last year on UK's single-season list of blocks.
He was an excellent player, and we would love to have him on our team at any time. If, as I expect, he goes to the pros next year, I hope he makes a fortune.
